BERRYTON – The victim of a roll-over car accident who died as a result of her injuries was identified by police.
The Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office identified the victim as Gena K. Klise, 47. She died from life-threatening injuries after being ejected from her vehicle in a crash on Saturday afternoon in Berryton.
The accident occurred in the 4700 block of S.E. 61st Street, between S.E. Paulen and S.E. Ratner roads. Klise was driving a minivan and appeared to have lost control, leaving the roadway, crashing into several stationary objects, and then rolling over.
Klise sustained serious injuries in the accident and was rushed to a nearby hospital where she died of her injuries. A small child was in the vehicle at the time of the accident and was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The child’s current condition is not available
Klise was a foster mother and English Language Learners teacher at Avondale West Elementary School. Police are still not sure what caused her to lose control.
