Madison, WI- Police say that an 11-year-old riding his bike on University Avenue in Madison was killed Monday after he was struck by a car attempting to cross at an intersection.
Police say the boy was at crossing at the intersection of Ridge Street when he was struck by a car driving eastbound, WKOW reported.
The boy survived the initial impact with critical injuries, but later died.
A witness to the accident said that particular intersection is dangerous to cross because the lanes of traffic are separated by a pedestrian island.
Friends of the boy’s family told the TV-station that he was headed to a local swimming pool.
Madison Police said they could not locate a helmet near the scene of the crash, WKOW.
Madison Police don’t suspect the driver of any wrongdoing, stating that she may have had the green light and was not distracted or inattentive at the time of the crash. They are still investigating the accident at this time.
