A fatal motorcycle accident delayed traffic after the driver was thrown from his bike on the Parkway East near Pittsburgh.
A motorcyclist died in a crash with an SUV Monday on the Parkway East outbound, according to Pennsylvania State Police. The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s office identified the motorcyclist as Gregory John Rozzo, 60, of Moon. Rozzo was headed east in the center lane and the SUV was in the left lane, according to a release from state police. As the SUV was passing the motorcycle, police said, Rozzo’s motorcycle swerved from the center lane into the passenger side of the SUV, and the SUV then swerved into the concrete barrier. Rozzo was thrown from the bike and hit a fence post above the barrier, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The 64-year-old driver of the SUV was the only person in that vehicle, and was not injured in the crash.
Wrongful death action.
When injuries, damages, or wrongful death occur as a result of an accident in Pennsylvania, an experienced personal injury attorney can help with a claim for compensation and a wrongful death action. Assigned responsibility in accident cases plays a significant part in damage compensation. In accordance with Title 42, Chapter 83 of the Pennsylvania General Statutes, Section 8301, a wrongful death is “caused by the wrongful act, or neglect or unlawful violence or negligence of another.”
Damages.
Compensation for a wrongful death resulting from a car accident is in a family’s reach to assist in the payment of any significant medical expenses, loss of wages, funeral expenses, and wrongful death claims. Wrongful death settlements in car accidents are usually paid out by insurance companies who gave liability coverage to the entity, or person who was responsible for the accident, but actions must be initiated within the two year statute of limitations.
When negligence can be proven, compensation for any loss sustained as a result of a vehicle accident may be possible in the State of Pennsylvania. Call an accident attorney who can help support negligence by assigning “fault” in a legal proceeding that addresses property damage, physical injuries, and wrongful death. Damages that may be recovered include:
- Medical bills
- Current and future compensation losses
- Pain and suffering
- Loss of care, companionship
- Estate administration expenses
- Funeral expenses if a wrongful death occurs
