Friends and family of Carole J. Dutterer, 68, her daughter Carly J. Dutterer, and Carly’s one-year-old son Hudson Dutterer are left with heavy hearts after all three suffered fatal injuries in a car accident back in May. When WGAL first reported on the incident that occurred on May 23rd, the source said that Carole and Carly Dutterer had both died at the scene of the accident but that Hudson had survived. The one-year-old was transported to Penn State Hershey Medical Center in critical condition.
After investigators arrived at the accident scene, they determined that that the Honda Civic the three were traveling in was T-boned by a truck as the vehicle passed through the intersection of Littlestown Road and Route 116. The truck that collided in the Civic was being driven by Matthew P. Dahler, 26. Dahler, along with his two passengers, all suffered serious injuries.
A day after the accident, York Daily Record reported that the one-year-old had succumbed to his injuries. The Dutterer family started a GoFundMe page to help with memorials for all three. The source shared that Carole Dutterer was a retired teacher and coach from Littlestown High School while Carly was described as a “devoted friend to many” who loved her son.
Did you recently lose a family member in a car accident in or nearby to Union Township, PA?
It’s hard enough for a family to lose one person they love but losing three at once is indescribable. If you recently lost someone close to you who was killed in a car accident and aren’t sure what your next steps should be, consider contacting USAttorneys.com. Although an accident attorney in Pennsylvania cannot bring your loved one back, they can assist you with obtaining the closure you and your other family members may need.
If the car accident your loved one was killed in was caused by a driver who was engaging in illegal behavior (i.e. driving while intoxicated) or they were violating one or more traffic laws that led to the crash occurring, a PA accident lawyer may be able to push for criminal charges to be imposed along with the maximum penalties for each crime that was committed. A lawyer can also help you file a wrongful death lawsuit in an effort to recover compensation for losses related to your relative’s death including, but not limited to:
- Pain and suffering
- Loss of companionship
- Medical expenses
- Burial expenses
- Mental anguish
As difficult as it may be to have to revisit the incident that claimed your loved one’s life with a legal expert, it is important that you speak with a Pennsylvania accident lawyer as soon as possible to ensure crucial evidence isn’t lost and that the statute of limitations to file a wrongful death lawsuit hasn’t passed.
