Virginia basic accident laws
Anyone involved in an accident will require a qualified accident attorney to represent them and procure damages. However, all residents are advised to know and remember that there is statute of limitations in effect in Virginia which dictates that a lawsuit should be filed within two years from the date of the accident and that Virginia is a “fault” state which means the driver or party at fault is liable for damages.
According to Arlington VA accident attorneys who can be found on the formidable website USAttorneys.com, vehicle owners do not have to purchase car insurance as long as they pay $500 uninsured motor vehicle fee to the DMV, which is a fee for operating an uninsured motor vehicle in the state. However, the driver will not have any kind of insurance coverage.
For other vehicles, it is mandatory to have a minimum insurance coverage of $25,000 per person for bodily injury, $50,000 per accident for bodily injury in case more than one person is injured, and $20,000 for property damage.
