BonoSeattle, WA- In a year-end address to his fans, Bono said he may never be able to play guitar again due to the injuries he suffered in a bike accident.
In November, the U2 front man was involved in what was described as a “high energy” bike accident as he was trying to avoid another cyclists. After the accident, the band confirmed on their website that Bono fractured his arm in six places, which took three metal plates and 18 screws to repair.
Bono was expected to make a full recovery after intensive rehabilitation, but the singer says he is unable to move around and is not certain he will ever be able to play guitar again.
In his letter to fans, Bono wrote, “Recovery has been more difficult than I thought. As I write this, it is not clear that I will ever play guitar again. The band have reminded me that neither they nor western civilization are depending on this.”
He said will take hard work and focus for him to be ready for the band’s upcoming tour which kicks off in May 2015.
The iconic singer noted that he has no one to blame for the accident, but himself.
