Last Thursday at approximately 3:20 a.m. police responded to an accident involving a Toyota Scion that had ran into a utility pole. The San Jose Mercury News reported that 20-year-old Travis Maresca of Livermore lost control of his vehicle and slammed into a utility pole.
Maresca’s passenger, a 20 year-old woman from San Jose, was killed in the crash, leading to driving under the influence, vehicular manslaughter and voluntary manslaughter charges from the young man. Police told the Mercury News they are trying to determine who supplied alcohol to the Maresca.
According to the Mercury News, law enforcement in the Bay Area arrested over three dozen drunken drivers between Dec. 31st and Jan. 2nd.
