A 25 year old male from Sacramento, who was riding a 2007 Ninja EX500D on Interstate 80 west of Northgate Blvd., was fatally injured after he rammed his speeding sports bike first into a car and then a big rig. According to police reports, he was splitting between lanes #1 and #2 at speeds between 50 and 60 miles per hour.

Motorcyclist Collides with Pickup Truck and Big Rig Trailer
Richard Emery, was driving a 2012 Dodge Ram pickup in lane #1 while Alberto Velazquez, 53, from Modesto, was in a 2006 Preterbilt big rig with a 2013 Great Dane trailer in lane #2. As the traffic came to a stop, the left side of the motorcycle hit the right side of the pickup truck and then the big rig trailer. Yolo CA truck accident attorneys say that such incidents are common at the end of the year, a time when the highway patrol should be more vigilant.
Cyclist Killed by a Peterbilt Truck
In a second incident, a 40 year old Dublin man and St. Mary’s High School’s Assistant Principal, Herman Shum, was killed in a collision east of San Ramon and north of Livermore. He was part of a cycling group of about 50 to 60 people on eastbound Highland Road, west of Carneal Road.
The cyclist was struck by a truck driver in a 2001 Peterbilt truck who was trying to avoid the pack of cyclists in front. Shum was travelling at the back of the pack probably to avoid crashing into two bicyclists in front of the group, when he crossed over to the other side of the road. The truck was driven by a 56 year old Livermore man. Emergency personnel pronounced him dead at the scene.

Hit and Run Cases
Yolo CA truck accident attorneys have witnessed an increase in hit and run cases during the holiday season. In a separate incident, a cyclist was killed by a white pickup truck in a fatal collision. The accident happened at the intersection of Soquel Avenue and Hagemann Avenue in Santa Cruz. A portion of Soquel Avenue was closed for eight hours. Santa Cruz police officer Lt. Warren Barry said that the truck driver immediately fled the scene after he hit the bicyclist from behind and then crashed into a traffic signal, shearing it from the sidewalk.
The name of the bicyclist was not released while paramedics declared him dead on the spot.
In a second such hit and run case, a man driving an SUV crashed into a pedestrian in Salinas. The pedestrian was walking down a sidewalk when the SUV at top speeds failed to negotiate a turn on Soledad Street and East Lake Street.
In another accident that occurred on the Interstate 5 on the northbound side and few hundred meters away from Santa Fe Drive, a speeding black Mustang collided head on with another car, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The driver of the black Mustang escaped and one was injured in the accident. According to police, it could be a DUI related offense. In response to this accident, a tow truck from RoadOne Towing was hit by another vehicle driven by a male when the Towing driver attempted to hoist the vehicle up on the back of the tow truck.
