Actor Will Ferrell, who is often recognized for his comedic roles, was in a car accident Thursday evening around 10:55 p.m. According to
People.com, Ferrell was on his way back from a Funny or Die event at Oceanside High School where he showed up as his Anchorman character, Ron Burgundy. After leaving the event, Ferrell along with three others were being chauffeured in an SUV on Interstate 5 in Mission Viejo when a Toyota sideswiped the SUV just south of Alicia Parkway.
As a result, the vehicle Ferrell was traveling in spun out of control and then flipped. All of the occupants were said to have suffered an injury, although it wasn’t clear how severe any of them were. One woman allegedly was “bleeding profusely on the scene,” says TMZ and Ferrell was seen sitting on a stretcher and then placed inside of an EMT vehicle. He was then transported to a local hospital along with the three other occupants who were riding in the SUV with him.
After medical personnel tended to Ferrell, he was later released from the hospital and his rep reported that he was doing well and did not suffer any significant injuries. TMZ later showed photos of open beer bottles that were sitting on the road after the SUV was pulled upright, however, law enforcement recently confirmed that drugs and alcohol did not play a role in the accident. We are still unsure as to what caused the Toyota to sideswipe the SUV as police are continuing to investigate the accident.
According to police, Ferrell only sustained minor injuries and was released shortly after he arrived at the hospital.
While it is tragic to hear that Will Ferrell was involved in such a traumatic accident, we are all thankful that he was able to walk away without suffering any severe injuries and he can continue to take on roles in movies that bring joy and laughter into many homes. Although many can agree that Ferrell’s accident was a close call, there are plenty who aren’t as lucky when
they are involved in a car accident. A large percentage of accident victims are left paralyzed or permanently disabled, and many even die. Did you know that in 2014, the State of California reported that 3,074 people were killed in traffic accidents? And similar statistics were recorded each year after that.
Some of the causes of these accidents include:
Alcohol-impaired driving– When a person decides to get behind the wheel of a vehicle intoxicated, they not only put their own life at risk but the lives of those around them as well. Buzzed driving and drunk driving are extremely dangerous and increase the chances of an accident occurring tremendously. Distracted driving– A distracted driver might be someone who is talking on their phone, lost in their thoughts, or trying to multitask while operating their vehicle. Not only is this behavior risky but it has caused 3,154 people in California to die in 2013. Drugged driving– both prescription, over-the-counter, and illegal drugs can all cause a driving impairment and contribute to these deadly roadway accidents.
When a person is severely injured in an auto accident, they generally can recover compensation from their insurance company and sometimes even the party who as at-fault for causing the crash. The best way to be sure you get the maximum amount of compensation your injuries entitle you to is by hiring a
