Samantha Silverman, 33, of Cumming faces charges of driving under the influence of drugs after she drove her Nissan van off Ga. 400 and into Lake Lanier north of Cumming. According to the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office she also faces charges of driving on a suspended license, reckless driving, and failure to maintain lane integrity.
Silverman was heading north when she swerved suddenly and went off the side at Exit 15 for Bald Ridge and Pilgrim Mill roads. The van missed the barrier cables and travelled down a steep embankment and into the lake.
According to the Sheriff’s office, it took firefighters around half an hour to extricate Silverman from the wreckage and out of the lake. A small dog was also rescued from the van. Silverman was treated at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville for her injuries. The Sheriff’s office said Silverman also faces a felony warrant for DUI and possession after she was arrested on Christmas Day last year.
GSP Patrol Officer Critically Injured in Ports Accident
Georgia State Patrol Officer Corporal William Solomon remains in a critical condition according to Memorial University Medical Center sources after he was severely injured by a commercial vehicle while coordinating traffic at Garden City terminal. 63 year old Robert Lee Turner, the driver of the tractor trailer, was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol and faces charges for the same in addition to driving a vehicle without a tag.

Turner was booked into the Chatham County Jail on a $4,600 bond. Corporal Solomon was deputed at the ports eight months ago and was previously a deputy in Liberty County. Investigations by the Georgia State Patrol are still on while reports of Turner’s blood tests have not yet been released.
Teenager Charged with Vehicular Manslaughter in Fatal Crash that Killed Three
17 year-old Rachel Conley is out on bond after she was arrested for causing a fatal accident in Effingham County in which three people were killed in September 2014. She was charged on 3 counts of second degree vehicular homicide, failure to exercise due care, and improper passing on the left. One of the victims was a special education teacher in Effingham County. The teenager was released on a bond of $38,700.
According to the Georgia State Patrol, Conley caused a fatal collision on Old Augusta Road. She attempted to overtake a Dodge Ram pickup truck in the southbound lane and tried to move back when she saw a northbound Bobtail tractor approaching.
Her car sideswiped the pickup truck in the process which in turn swerved in front of a Chevrolet Traverse. The driver of the pickup truck, Karlie Miles and the two women in the Traverse, Megan Kessler and her mother Marlys Stempke, were killed in the accident.
Teenage Skateboarder Killed in Accident in Tift County
Austin King, 17, of Tifton High School student who killed in an accident while skateboarding down Ferry Lake Drive. According to troopers, he was struck by a vehicle whose driver alleges it was dark and foggy and he did not see King on the road. The student died instantly at the scene of the crash. No charges have been filed as yet as investigations by Georgia State Patrol continues.
