car accident and  wrecked car on the roadHouston, TX- Two impaired driving collisions in Houston over the past few days have left at two people dead and at least nine injured.
A Saturday collision injured nine people and killed one. That accident took place Saturday evening on Gears Road when the driver of a Mitsubishi Galant drifted out of his lane into oncoming traffic and struck a pickup truck with seven occupants, according to KHOU.
A passenger in front seat of the Galant, Ever Medrano, was pronounced dead on the scene.  Jose Martir Salazar-Ramirez, who was driving, and a backseat passenger suffered major injuries and were flown to a local hospital.
All seven passengers in the pickup truck, which included two children, were injured and were taken to a separate hospitals for treatment, KHOU reported.
Police said Salazar-Ramirez was intoxicated at the time of the crash.
Then on Monday a man heading to pick his 7-year-old son from school was killed when he struck by a motorist who attempted to flee the scene.
Huego Avila, 36, was traveling along Imperial Valley when a driver ran a red light at the intersection of Aldine Bender. Avila’s vehicle was T-boned and was he pronounced dead on the scene, according to ABC 13.
Avila’s brother in-law told ABC 13 that the deceased man’s son was at a nearby school waiting for his father to pick him up and saw helicopters flying to the scene.
Four other vehicles, including a school bus with no passengers, were involved in the accident, but there were no other injuries.
The at-fault driver, who has not been identified, fled from the scene on foot, but was later apprehended. Police said he was intoxicated at the time of the crash.
