Gloucester County, NJ- A driver who lost control of their vehicle on I-295 in South New Jersey set off a chain-reaction collision that left two people dead.
NJ.com reports that the accident took place Sunday, April 26th around 8:30 a.m. in Gloucester County when the driver of a Lexus, carrying two passengers, lost control in the southbound lanes of 1-295.
NBC Philadelphia reports that the Lexus then struck an Acura with three occupants, sending that vehicle out of control. The Acura, which was in the left lane, then slammed into a guardrail, ejecting the driver and a front-seat passenger. They were both pronounced dead on the scene.
The backseat passenger who was in the Acura and the two occupants of the Lexus were all injured and taken to area hospitals for treatment.
Police are not certain what caused the Lexus driver to lose control, and are not certain if they will cite the driver. The investigation into the accident is ongoing but authorities ruled out drugs or alcohol.
