Detroit, MI – Local authorities report a woman was killed in a recent accident that might have been a result of a combination of drunk driving and drag racing in Detroit.
According to WDIV Local 4, police believe that a drunk driver may have collided with a vehicle that was getting ready for a drag race on I-75. While Troy officers say that they are currently still looking into what may have caused the fatal accident in Detroit, they are focusing on finding out whether or not the drag race was put on hold by a drunk driver.
The news outlet reports that a red Ford F-150 rear-ended a 1984 Mazda RX-8, leaving it burned after a crash that happened this past Saturday night. At the time of the accident, there were two people riding inside the Mazda. The car abruptly went from driving at a normal speed to slowing down to a crawl; unfortunately, the vehicles driving behind them didn’t get the memo to slow down. The F-150 smashed right into the back of the Mazda while going full speed.

Authorities say that the impact from the truck was so forceful that it destroyed the back half of the Mazda. During the accident, the car was shoved to the breakdown lane and then proceeded to burst into flames.
The passenger in the Mazda, Cassandra Hunter, age 27, was killed in the Detroit car accident and pronounced dead at the scene. The Mazda driver, a 29-year-old from Innisfil, was in serious condition and taken to a nearby hospital.
The driver of the red Ford F-150 was arrested at the scene. While local authorities conducted a field sobriety test, they also decided to do a blood sample since the accident included a fatality.
