Rollover Vehicle Accident at Busy Intersection With Emergency PeShelby County, TN- A Memphis-area woman is facing multiple charges after causing a fatal wrong-way crash in Memphis early Sunday morning. One person died, and several others were injured.
WREG in Memphis reports that the accident occurred around 3:30 a.m. Sunday morning on Interstate 1-40 near the Hollywood Street exit. According to reports, a 26-year-old woman was driving the wrong-way when she slammed into a second vehicle which then struck a third and fourth car.
WREG reports that the a 62-year-old woman, who was in the second car, was killed and pronounced at the scene.
A total of four cars were involved, and, at least, six people in those vehicles were injured and taken to the hospital, WREG reports. Those injury victims include an adult male in critical condition, a 42—year-old also in critical condition, and a 7-year-old in non-critical condition.
The at-fault driver was also injured and taken to the hospital. She was later arrested and charged with several counts including possession codeine and marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, DUI, reckless driving, seven counts of aggravated assault and one count of aggravated vehicle homicide.
