Charleston, WV- Police have charged a 21-year-old West Virginia women with drugged driving in connection to a three-vehicle accident in the Charleston area that left one person dead.
WOWKTV reports that police arrested Sarena Fox for suspicion of driving under the influence of a controlled substance causing death in relation to a June 18th accident.
The accident occurred just after 9:00 p.m. in Glen Jean. A press release from police states Fox was driving a Chevy Silverado on WV Route 16 when she drifted into oncoming traffic and struck a red, southbound-traveling SUV head-on sending it out of control. The red SUV crossed into the northbound lanes were it was struck sideways by and then flipped over onto the driver’s side,WOWKTV reports.
A female passenger in the red SUV was pronounced dead on the scene. The male driver of the SUV survived the initial crash, but died shortly after arriving at a local hospital.
Police had enough evidence to charge Fox with DUI involving death and she was later arrested. She now faces a lengthy jail sentence. Recently, the West Virginia legislature changed the state’s DUI laws, making penalties tougher. Now, drivers who cause a fatal accident under the influence face a jail term of 3 to 10 years.
