Bakersfield, CA- A five-car crash in California Wednesday night resulted in the death of an innocent motorist, and sent five people to the hospital with two victims suffering critical injuries.
The accident occurred at a Paramount intersection at 7:03 p.m. Police suspect two Chevy trucks were street-racing when they approached an intersection as the light was beginning to change. One of the trucks made it through the intersection, but the other did not, CBS reported.
The second truck collided with a third truck, causing a five-car pile-up that left a female passenger in the third truck dead.
The deceased woman has not been identified, but police say she was 70 years-old according to NBC.
The driver of the second truck and four others were injured with two of them in critical condition.
Police are still interviewing witnesses trying to determine if the two Chevy drivers were street racing.
One of the truck drivers fled the scene.
Last month, two accidents involving street racing left one man dead in San Diego and injured three others. In the San Diego accident, the person killed was racing another car when he lost control and slammed into a tree. The second accident which occurred in Contra Costa, left people suffering serious injuries.
