Many serious truck accidents result in a combination of property damage and medical emergencies. A victim may have to utilize multiple avenues to receive proper compensation for their losses, including insurance claims and lawsuits.
Multiple people were treated for injuries after a pickup truck hauling a boat crashed on Interstate 95 in Miami.
Truck goes off of I-95 and a boat crashes into a fence

When police and emergency crews responded to the scene on the highway, they found a boat against a fence and a pickup truck that went off of the side of the road near Northwest 28th Street and the intersection with Northwest 7th Ave. The trailer that was pulling the boat landed on top of the truck’s cab and crushed the windshield. The boat was several feet away, and authorities still are not sure exactly why the vehicle went off of the road surface.
A man who witnessed the crash and lives right near the accident scene said he heard several loud noises. The Dodge truck went through the guardrail on I-95 south and came to a rest right near his apartment early in the morning. The driver of one vehicle who was involved in the accident but fled the scene was arrested later in the day by the Florida Highway Patrol.
When rescue workers arrived, they had to transport four people to local hospitals. The witness said one male was bleeding badly and another woman who was with him was taken away for medical treatment as well. A third male victim was stuck underneath the trailer. He believes the truck driver was going on a fishing trip when the crash happened.
How will the driver get compensation for their losses?
This situation may become more complex from a financial standpoint because a boat was involved as well as the truck. The damage caused to the boat will either need to be covered by the owner’s boat insurance or a lawsuit against another driver or anyone else who is found to be at fault. People who transport boats or other kinds of vehicles will normally need to purchase separate insurance to cover these losses in addition to their standard auto policy.
The injuries may be financially covered through a personal injury lawsuit against the person or business who is responsible for the accident. Lawyers who practice in this area add up the value of all of the losses that the victim sustained through things like medical treatment for injuries and lost wages, to come up with a sum that is listed in the initial complaint filed with the lawsuit. If successful, the lawyer will get this amount for their client through a settlement agreement or verdict following a jury trial.
To learn more about the specifics of how this process will work following your accident, it is important to schedule an initial meeting with a lawyer and tell them about your situation.
