Atlanta, GA- An Atlanta-area man pleaded guilty to causing a fatal DUI accident in his wedding day which left his new bride dead.
In December of 2013, Ryan Quinton and his new bride were leaving their wedding reception in Ball Ground, Georgia, when he lost control and ran off the road. His bride Kali Quinton was ejected from the car which landed on top of her. She was killed instantly.
Quinton tried to blame the accident on dog in the road, but police soon learned that he was highly intoxicated, registering a .14 blood alcohol content. The legal limit in Georgia is .08.
Several months after the accident, Quinton was arrested from DUI again.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that in his Thursday court appearance, Quinton pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide based on reckless driving and the additional DUI charge. He was sentenced to several months behind bars and 15 years’ probation. He is prohibited from driving for five years and must participate in a DUI court program.
The AJC notes that the sentencing was left up to the judge and Quinton did not negotiate for a plea bargain.
