ParamedicsGreenville, SC-Having an accident or breaking down on the side of the highway can be extremely dangerous and possibly fatal. That fact is demonstrated by recent Greenville accident that left a 28-year-old man dead.
According to Greenville Online, the accident occurred on February 15, in the evening on Interstate 385. The website reports the Clayborn Dallas Jester, 28, was helping a friend who was involved in an accident. Jester and his co-worker were standing along the highway as a police officer investigated the accident.
Jester and his friend were standing on the shoulder when an oncoming car forced the two to take evasive action. Greenville Online reports that Jester was forced to go over a retaining wall so he could avoid being hit. He then tumbled down an embankment and died due to multiple blunt force injuries to the head.
Jester’s co-worker was also injured and taken to a local hospital.
Greenville Officer, Gilberto Franco, was also struck while sat in his patrol car. He suffered minor injuries in the crash.
The Greenville PD hasn’t released many details about how the accident occurred. While the cause of this accident is not known, we do know that the three leading causes of traffic accidents in South Carolina are drunken driving, speeding and failing to yield the right of way according to the South Carolina Department of Safety.
