Iowa Teen Killed in Traffic Accident

Spencer, IA- An 18 year-old Iowa girl was killed and three people were taken to the hospital after a traffic accident at the Spencer Golf and Country Club.

Elizabeth Kyte, 18, was driving a Chevy Malibu on Country Club Lane when she attempted to turn east onto West 18th Street. As she was turning, Kyte’s small sedan was struck by a semi-truck on the driver’s side. That side of the vehicle was demolished and the force of the crash pushed Kyte’s vehicle along with the semi down an embankment, according to the Spencer Daily Reporter.

Elizabeth Kyte was pronounced dead on the scene. Two of her passengers, 50 year-old Tamara Kyte and 22 month-old Seth Kyte were taken to the hospital for treatment.The Spencer Daily Reporter reported that the infant was released from the hospital and, as of Saturday, Tamara Kyte was still in the hospital listed in stable condition.

The semi driver was also injured but was released from the hospital by Saturday.

Spencer Police have not said who they believe is responsible for the accident.
