Las Vegas metro police deal with several serious accidents in just a few hours

Police in the northeast valley area of Las Vegas, Nevada responded to multiple crashes in a short period of time overnight. One of the accidents proved to be fatal.

Multiple injuries reported after police handle several collisions in one night

The first incident happened around 8:30 pm at the intersections of North Nellis Boulevard and East Washington Ave. A Lieutenant with the Metro Police said that three vehicles were involved in this crash, but one motorcycle rider died during the collision. He said that a Nissan Rogue turned into front of the motorcycle causing the initial impact, then a Chevy Silverado pickup truck collided with those two vehicles.

The driver of the Nissan was taken to the hospital for unspecified injuries, and the motorcycle rider was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency workers. No one else was harmed during this collision. Police also do not believe that drugs or alcohol were a factor in the accident.

A second incident happened only about a mile away on North Nellis Boulevard. The situation began with a 52 year old male picking up scrap metal from the road. A Hyundai SUV collided with the man at around 9:30 pm near the intersection of East Judson Ave. The accident report only stated that the pedestrian did not use a crosswalk and no foul play was suspected by police at the scene.

The third accident only involved a single vehicle at about 10:20 pm at the intersections of South Valley View Boulevard and West Twain Ave. Law enforcement said that the driver of a Honda Civic lost control of his vehicle, went off of the side of the road, then made contact with rocks and a light pole on the roadside. That driver was sent to the hospital in critical condition.

The final incident involved a pickup truck and a man on a bicycle. At about 9:15 pm at the intersections of West Washington Ave and Martin Luther King Boulevard, the truck hit the bicyclist. The victim was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.

Metro police said that at the time of the report, their jurisdiction in the Las Vegas area had reported 61 traffic fatalities for the year.
