Several family members were left to grieve over the death of not one loved one, but five after all were killed in a car crash in Missouri. People Magazine says that the accident occurred back in May and involved a 22-year-old pregnant woman, her two young children, her children’s father, and his brother. The source says the children’s father, 22-year-old Travon Nelson was behind the wheel of a Toyota RAV4 they all had been occupying. Kristy Monroe, 22, was sitting in the passenger seat and her 2-year-old and seven-month-old had been sitting in the backseat with their uncle, 16-year-old Samuel Nelson.
People Magazine says that the RAV4 had been traveling on Lucas and Hunt Road in north St. Louis County at around 5:00 p.m. when the tragic accident transpired. Missouri Highway Patrol says that Travon drove off the right side of the road, over-corrected himself, and drove into the northbound lanes of traffic. A Nissan truck driven by Larry Boyd collided with the back of the RAV4 which then caused the vehicle to overturn with the family inside.
After officials and first responders arrived at the scene, they pronounced all the occupants inside the RAV4 dead. While Boyd survived the accident, he did suffer serious injuries and had to be transported to an area hospital. Both Nelson and Monroe’s families set up GoFundMe campaigns to help raise money to cover their funeral expenses.
Family Members Take to Social Media to Express Their Heartbreak
Friends and family members of those killed in the crash took to Facebook to express the pain and sorrow they felt. One of Monroe’s friends wrote, “I miss y’all and it hurts me and my wife to know that we will never see you guys again.” Kristy’s sister wrote “I love you so much Kristy Monroe. I’m glad every time we left each other we said I love you.”
