a1Albuquerque, NM- MMA fighter Jon Jones is in legal trouble after he allegedly fled the scene of a car accident that left a pregnant woman injured.
MMAFighting.com reports that the accident took place Sunday morning in Albuquerque and involved three cars. The arrest reports state that Jones who was driving a SUV ran a red light at the intersection of Juan Tabo and Southern and struck a vehicle, carrying a pregnant woman, on the driver’s side.
Witness at the scene of the accident told police the man who caused the accident fled on foot after grabbing a handful of cash, MMAFighting.com reported.
The pregnant woman who was struck suffered a broken arm Albuquerque police said. The occupants of the third involved vehicle refused treatment at the scene.
Officers then conducted a search of the car where they found documents identifying Jones, marijuana and a drug pipe, according to the police report. After several attempts to call Jones with no success, police issued a warrant for his arrest.
On Monday, Jones turned himself into police. The charges he is facing hasn’t yet been determined but he could be facing felony fleeing the scene of an accident and misdemeanor drug possession.
