28 year old Dane Westby passed away on Monday as a result of injuries sustained in a road accident. The incident occurred at the racer’s hometown of Tulsa, Oklahoma. It has been reported that he was on his way to his parents’ home when he collided with a utility pole.
Westby was a promising rider with unbridled potential. The racing community, MotoAmerica, has expressed its condolences in a statement made by the president of MotoAmerica―Wayne Rainey. The racer is survived by his parents, his sister, and his girlfriend. His father, Tryg Westby, is a former AMA superbike racer.
In the most recent revelation, Dane Westby’s long-time friend and mechanic Dustin Meador has personally inspected the crash site and issued a statement saying he believed Westby was trying to swerve to avoid something in his path when he suddenly veered off in the direction of the utility pole.
Meador said it was evident by the skid marks that Westby was on the brakes and trying to avoid something or someone in his path. Meador observed that there was a burger joint across the street and thinks it is possible that Westby tried avoiding collision with someone who had rolled out of the burger joint and onto the road.
Truck rams car on Northwest Expressway and MacArthur Boulevard, one dies
Witness reports have revealed horrific details of a truck accident that killed one person on Sunday morning on Northwest Expressway and MacArthur Boulevard in Oklahoma.
According to a witness that watched in horror as people scrambled to help the trapped driver, a pick-up truck rammed into the back of a car that was halted at a stop sign, the collision resulted in an immediate explosion and the car was instantly engulfed in flames to an extent where nothing on the inside of the vehicle was visible at all.
Reportedly, a lady near the scene kept repeatedly yelling “bust it out” and a man trying to help the trapped car driver was attempting to free the driver but the heat was so incredible that he just could not get close enough to the car.
The driver of the car succumbed to burn injuries while the truck driver was first hospitalized and then taken to jail. Investigators are trying to determine whether the truck was speeding and if the driver was impaired due to consumption of alcohol or some other intoxicants.
