Las Vegas, NV- A teen who was struck crossing a busy road in North Las Vegas died from his injuries on Tuesday.
Police say a teenager, who has not been identified, was crossing at the intersection of North Commerce Street and West La Madre Way around 3:30 p.m. when he was struck by a SUV, Fox 5 Vegas reports.
The SUV driver stayed on the scene and cooperated with police.
Police are trying to determine the cause of the accident and whether or not the driver was speeding prior to striking the teen, according to Fox 5 Vegas.
Witnesses told FOX 5 Vegas that many motorists speed through that area.
Pedestrian collisions are all too common in Las Vegas. Just two days before this young man was killed, a woman was hit when she attempted to cross Flaming Road around 3:45 a.m. According to reports, the women and a companion climbed over a concrete barrier meant to keep pedestrians from crossing the busy street.
The woman’s companion made it across the street without being harmed, but the woman was hit and taken to the hospital in critical condition.
Just last week two elderly pedestrians, vacationing in Las Vegas were injured as they were crossing at an intersection. Two cars were stopped for a red light when a drunken driver slammed into them, pushing both cars into the intersection where one struck the elderly couple.
