Close-up car accidentCorpus Christi, TX- In the U.S., car accidents account for a large majority of accidental deaths annually. In Texas, fatal traffic accidents are on the rise, climbing 8 percent between 2009 and 2013, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety. A large fraction of that increase in fatal traffic accidents can be attributed to commercial trucks and the fracking boom, but passenger vehicle motorists also make their fair share of mistakes that lead to accidental injuries or death.
Two accidents on Texas roads this weekend demonstrate how deadly a simple mistake can be when a person is behind the wheel.
The El Paso Times reported that early Sunday morning three people were killed when their vehicles collided on a rural Texas road. Police say that  Steven Michael Bolton, 32, was traveling south on Farm-Market Road 1788 when he ran a stop sign at the intersection of Highway 176, and slammed into another vehicle. A third vehicle then struck the first two vehicles.
Bolton and two passengers in the second vehicle were killed, with the driver of the second car sustaining serious injuries.
Just about every motorist has ran a stop sign a time or two throughout their driving careers, it happens, but this accidents shows the dire consequences of running a stop sign or traffic signal. What is a seemingly minor mistake can cost a person their life, depriving their family and friends of their emotional and financial support. When an accident takes the life of a loved one, a Texas accident attorney can help the surviving family members get a fair settlement that acknowledges the pain and suffering a family endures after a fatal traffic accident.
Another Texas accident, occurring in Katy, left two teens dead as they and a large group of their friends were headed to a bonfire Saturday night.
Police say that the two teens that were riding on a flatbed truck being driven by an 18 year-old man. Click2Houston reported that there were approximately 5 teens in the cab of the truck and as many as 10 teens riding on the flatbed when the driver lost control and flipped the truck several times.
Two teens riding in the rear, 17-year-old Trent Weber, and 16-year-old Terra Kubala, were killed and several other teens suffered serious injury.
Police have not charged the driver, but their investigation is ongoing. Click2Houston reported that the company that owns the flatbed truck has prior safety violations and many in the community are outraged the truck was being used to transport the teens.
Most people never have the intention of being in or causing a serious traffic accident, but when their careless actions or reckless behaviors lead to a catastrophic accident, that motorist will have to take financial responsibility for the harm they cause. Texas accident victims can turn to a Corpus Christi accident attorney to help them recover the many costs they will incur as a result of their collision. A traffic accident can turn a person’s life upside down, but when you have an accident attorney on your side, you can stop worrying about where you are going to get the money you need for your medical bills and every day cost of living.
