car accident and wrecked car on the roadFort Bend County, TX- Motorists take all sorts of risks on the road that endanger others and themselves.  But drunken driving has to be one of the most willfully atrocious behaviors a driver can engage in and leaves innocent victims in the wake. A recent accident in the Houston area shows the deadly consequences of impaired driving.
Police say that on August 16th, 36-year-old Martin Kingori was driving in the Houston-area when around 2 a.m. when he attempted to make a U-turn and was broad-sided by another vehicle on the passenger side. Sitting in the passenger seat was Kingori’s unrestrained 4-year-old daughter, ABC 13 reported. Miraculously, she survived the impact despite the destruction done to the passenger side.
The unidentified driver who T-boned Kingori’s vehicle however was not as lucky; he was killed instantly.
Kingori was not injured.
Police told ABC 13 that Kingori appeared to be intoxicated and breathalyzer showed that his blood alcohol content was twice the legal limit.
Kingori was arrested and charged with intoxication manslaughter, but the charges could be elevated because he had a minor child in his vehicle.
Sadly, even though we all know that drunken or drugged driving has the potential to be deadly, nearly 1.5 million motorists do it every year in the U.S.  And those are just the ones that get caught, many experts believe that a person can drive under the influence 80 times or more before they are caught.
The problem with drunken or drugged drivers is that they don’t see the danger in their actions, so they don’t take steps to protect themselves, their passengers or other motorists. And, in the case of this accident, we can see that drunken drivers are even willing to put the lives of their children at risk. Even though we recognize intoxicated motorists aren’t capable of making good decisions, their actions are inexcusable and when they hurt others, they should be accountable for the pain and suffering they cause to others.
