AAA says 38 million Americans will travel for Memorial Day which will make it the busiest since 2005.

San Diego, CA- This Memorial Day will be one for the record books according to the American Automobile Association, which predicts that approximately 38 million Americans will travel this Memorial Day. As for California, the motoring club expects at least 4.6 million Californians to go more than 50 miles from their home.
“Memorial Day travel is the second highest on record yet,” Cynthia Harris of AAA said, according to Capitol Public Radio. She added, “And it’s the second highest number of travelers in California since 2005.”
Many of those travelers will be flying, but with gas prices so low, plenty of Californians will be traveling by auto. Harris said road travel in the state and San Diego would increase by 2.5 percent this Memorial Day.
With all those motorists on the road, the streets, and highways throughout California could be treacherous over the long holiday weekend. So, USAttorneys and our team of accident lawyers in California would like to share some ways you can keep your holiday from being touched by tragedy.
First and foremost, don’t drink and drive!! Two -thirds of fatal traffic accidents are caused by jerks who drink and drive. It’s better to spring for a cab, walk or sleep on the couch than it is to drive while impaired. No matter how little you have had to drink, it’s safer to stay off the roads until you are completely sober, or you could be spending the night in jail on a DUI charge.
Follow USAttorneys’ safety tips, so you don’t end up in an accident.
Buckle up!! A seat belt will save your life. Time and time again, you read stories of accident victims who are killed because they didn’t wear their seatbelt.
Leave early, so you don’t have to rush. The traffic in California is horrendous, and you can expect to spend a lot of time on the road. If you don’t have to rush or don’t feel like you are in a big hurry, you won’t feel the need to speed or drive to aggressively.
Do a maintenance check! You need to ensure your auto is in safe working order for the busy holiday. Make certain your tires are properly inflated, and you replace worn ones. Check your fluids including engine oil, brake fluid, radiator fluid even your windshield wiper fluid. Have your brakes checked and be sure your engine is running well.
We can help find an attorney if you are injured in San Diego.
If you take some of our advice to heart, you can protect yourself and the motorists you will be sharing the road with over the three-day holiday weekend. But not all motorists make safety their priority and they act negligently by making risky moves on the road and hurt others. Victims who are injured by negligent drivers should speak with an accident lawyer in San Diego to see if they should file a civil claim. USAttorneys can connect you with a lawyer to work on your claim and get you the settlement you deserve.
