Snohomish County, WA- As Seattleites head out for Labor Day they need to take heed and pay careful attention to the road because, as it turns out, drivers in the city are pretty accident prone. That is according to a new report by insurer Allstate who ranks motorists in city among the worst drivers in the U.S.
After looking at the accident rates in 200 cities across the U.S., Seattle ranked at 184, meaning there are only 16 cities with worse drives than Seattle. The report found that motorists were 45.9 percent more likely to be involved in a collision than the national average.
Allstate found that, on average, motorists in Seattle are involved in traffic collisions once every 6.9 years. In comparison, drivers in Kansas City, the safest city on the list, averaged an accident every 13.3 years.
Even though they are the best, Seattle motorists can be thankful they aren’t in Boston were the drivers are the worst in the nation. Beantown came in at 200 in the list with drivers averaging an every 3.9 years.
The insurance company came up with their rankings by counting the accident claims they receive compared to each city’s population.
