Two Dead Following Separate Traffic Collisions in Birmingham
Deputies in Jefferson County are investigating separate crashes that left two people dead this week. One accident involved a single motorcycle and the collision other involved two cars.
The Birmingham Patch reports that a motorcyclist suffered fatal injuries after losing control of their bike on McDonald’s Chapel Road. According to the paper, a motorcyclist, who hasn’t been identified, was traveling north around 7 a.m. when they lost control in a curve and crashed into a tree.
Later, around 2:00 p.m., an older woman was killed on Forestdale Ave. as she was pulling out of a driveway, entering the path of an oncoming vehicle. The two cars collided, according to AL.com.
The woman backing out of the driveway suffered critical injuries and was taken to a local hospital where she was later pronounced dead. Her female passenger sustained critical injuries but is expected to survive.
