As two South Florida DJs were heading home after performing at a late-night gig on Sunday, they collided with a vehicle being pursued by Florida Highway Patrol. According to the Miami Herald, a Florida Highway Patrol trooper attempted to pull a white Dodge Charger over after the driver had run a red light. The driver failed to stop for police and later crashed into a gray Ford Mustang, the vehicle the two DJs had been occupying.
The accident happened around 2:00 a.m. along NW 135th Street and NW 22nd Avenue.
As a result of the collision, Edmond McCoy, 34, known as DJ Boogie, and Robinson Lazard,37, known as DJ Styles, both had to be transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center. Sadly, both died from their injuries. The driver of the Charger, who police identified as Burt Saint Louis, 27, suffered serious injuries and also had to be transported to the hospital. Charges are now pending against Saint Louis.
After the fatal accident, friends and family of both DJs expressed their sorrow via social media. One person commented, “Here today gone tomorrow may they rest in peace.” McCoy’s mother also spoke with Channel 10 and said, “I’m just lost. I lost my one and only son.”
