Salt Lake City, UT- Every motorist, at one point in time, will experience a flat tire or other mechanical problem while on a Utah highway and have to pull over into the emergency lane. Fox 13 reports that a 51 year-old Salt Lake City man was killed last Thursday night while he was changing a flat tire on Eastbound 201 around 9:15 p.m.
The Daily Herald reports as the man was standing by his car, gathering the tools he need to change his flat, when a 21-year-old man, speeding down the highway, slammed into him. Utah State Police told the paper that for some unknown reason.
The man, who was struck, was pronounced dead on the scene; two of his passenger suffered critical injuries and were taken to local hospitals for treatment.
The 21-year-old man was also critically injured. Police are still investigating the cause of the collision.
