What are the most dangerous intersections near Boca Raton?
Palm Beach County is home to a number of dangerous intersections where more than 100 accidents occurred in the past year. Local government agencies have complied and published data related to these problem areas where car accidents occur just about every day.
Areas with the most accidents in Palm Beach County
The county’s department of engineering and public works released their annual report about the most dangerous intersections, where North Military Trail and Okeechobee Boulevard in the suburbs of West Palm Beach again topped the list with 123 crashes in 2018. Boca Raton had an intersection with over 100 crashes in the same year. The intersection of Glades Road and State Road 7 was a hotspot for traffic accidents, with 118. That particular intersection with three turning lanes has bothered residents for years, and there are concerns that the opening of the new large Uptown Boca shopping center and apartment complex nearby will make the situation worse. Glades Road and Airport Road in Boca Raton also made the list in the tenth spot out of twenty.
Atlantic Ave and Military Trail in Delray Beach was also a spot of concern, with 97 crashes in the previous two years. Altantic Ave and Lyons Road has the highest rate of crashes per 100,000 vehicles in the entire county. The high volume of accidents in the Delray Area was attributed to the rapid growth of the city in recent years, with many long time residents noting that the area felt like a small town until not very long ago.
The manager of the local department that records these statistics stated that factors like distracted driving and aggressive driving are the main reasons why many rear-end collisions happen at these busy intersections. The accident numbers have slightly decreased from previous years, meaning the intersections have become a little bit safer.
What can be done after an accident?
Because accidents are so common in Palm Beach County, it is important to know where to get legal help afterwards. An accident attorney can do a number of things related to helping you receive proper compensation, including dealing with insurance companies or suing another driver or business that owns a vehicle directly. The party at fault can be made to pay for things like damage to the vehicle, medical treatment for injuries, or even missed time from work while a victim recovers from an accident.
How will I know which driver is responsible?
While the facts of each accident will vary, an accident report from the local police along with other information obtained by your lawyer will be used to help determine who is at fault. Even if you are partially at fault for causing the crash, Florida’s comparative negligence laws will still allow you to collect a reduced sum of money. In other words, fault will only reduce the amount of damages available, it does not totally prevent you from filing a lawsuit.
