Over six hundred motorists were killed in DUI accidents in 2015.

The accident occurred Sat. April 30th around nine p.m. on East Oakland Park Road in Fort Lauderdale. According to the Sun-Sentinel, a person driving a Kia rear-ended a car at the intersection of Federal Highway and set off a chain of a collision that would have tragic results.
The car struck by the Kia, a Nissan was pushed into another vehicle. The driver of the Nissan, a 35-year-old man, suffered critical injuries and was taken to Broward Health Medical Center. He was pronounced dead later, according to Sun-Sentinel.
Another occupant of the Nissan, the man’s fiancé, also suffering critical injuries. She also succumbed to her injuries a couple of days after the crash.
One of the victims’ family members told Local News 10 that couple was on a date, celebrating their 12-year anniversary the night the fatal crash happened.
After striking the Nissan, the Kia driver crashed into two other vehicles, but none of the occupants were seriously injured. When the dust settled, the driver of the Kia attempted to flee the scene of the accident but was later located and taken to the hospital for medical treatment.
The driver who caused this crash is under investigation for DUI but has not been formally charged, according to Local 10 News.
